INFORMATION |
Although
world literature is a standard class for high school seniors,
it tends to become British literature. The most likely reason
is that biographical and critical information for authors who
write in any language other than English has been very limited
in most high school library media centers. Technology has made
the world smaller and made all of us more aware of other
cultures. Also technology in the form of the Internet has
vastly expanded resources available to high school students
and teachers. Recently a teacher asked me for a list of
foreign language writers to use for the class, I decided to
compile a pathfinder as well as a list to meet the need. The
databases and websites are all available at Mount Notre Dame,
and the books are in our print collection. Obviously the
titles used will vary with each library and each teacherbs
assignment. The list of authors is at the end of the Path
Finder.
