INFORMATION Summary of the Topic/Pathfinder Drug abuse
is a topic which affects us all. Illegal drugs are a part of
campus life, the sports world, and international politics.
They contribute to various diseases and fatalities, crime, and
international terrorism. Alcohol and tobacco not only injure
the individual who over indulges, but can also harm those
nearby, e.g. alcohol related automobile accidents and second
hand smoke. Accordingly, it is vital that students become
aware of the dangers associated with illegal drugs, alcohol,
and tobacco. This Pathfinder will explore four categories
of materials: Reference Books, Web Sites for Students,
Databases (INFOhio Electronic Resources and Other Subscription
Databases), and Selected Articles from INFOhio Electronic
Resources.

WEB
SITES FOR STUDENTS Caveat: It is important to critically
evaluate a Web page for authority, accuracy, objectivity,
currency, and coverage especially when researching a topic
like DRUGS, on the internet. The URL address of a factual,
informational Web page frequently ends in .edu or .gov. as
they are sponsored by educational institutions or government
agencies. Be especially critical when using data from advocacy
Web pages (.org), marketing Web pages (.com), or personal Web
pages.
