After reading the nonfiction book, Having Our Say, students, using both print and online resources available in the media center, will relate the historical and cultural events of the assigned decade to the lives of the Delany sisters. Students will place these events on a timeline, which will be presented in class. Each timeline must include 2 biographies, 5 historical events, and 4 cultural events which need to include visual, literary and performing arts.
Students will research in the library media center after instruction by the library media specialist. The instruction will include review of card catalog usage, introduction to the reserved print materials, searching using NetTrekker (a subscription search engine for secondary students) and the content pathway on Ebsco Hosts.
The student will be graded on the timeline that is constructed and the performance of the presentation.
