    Celebrate the Century:Search the Web for U.S. History of the 1960s. A great introductory lesson for the unit on the 60s, using stamps from the U.S. Postal Service. Covers important events in politics, technology, sports, popular culture
    Turbulent Times of the 60s. An excellent 10 unit lesson on the 60s. Although prepared for 7/8 grades, this could easily adapted to a senior high school class, particularly if the sequence of instruction puts U.S. History in the 10th grade.
    Module: The Tumultuous 60s. A lesson plan focusing on primary source documents from the Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History, New York City. This lesson plan is in the process of being added to continually, and the site provides other lesson plans for U.S. History.
    The Sixties Project. A site full of resources and ideas for teaching about the 60s and the Viet Nam War.
    The Sixties. A "you were there" project. Students are asked to assume one of four personalities - a parent of young adults, a movement activists, a reporter covering the U.S. war in Vietnam, a college professor - and using material found in print and electronic resources, write a paper dealing with the questions posed in the lesson plan. Highlights include: The world lives with the threat of nuclear weapons; Martin Luther King, Jr. makes his immortal "I Have a Dream" speech; dreams of Camelot die when John F. Kennedy is assassinated; Hitchcock's classic thriller, "Psycho" debuts; John Glenn is the first American to orbit the earth.

This multi-part NewsHour program provides a powerful retrospective on the Vietnam War and its ongoing influence, from both the American and Vietnamese points of view. Special attention is given to the war’s long-term impact on the U.S. military, the news media, American protest movements, and the inhabitants of Vietnam. Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam. New York: HBO Home Video, 1987. An authentic account of the Vietnam War, as reflected in actual letters written home by the men and women who served there, read over films of combat and home-movie footage of daily life in the war zone, and backed up by modern pop and rock music. This is a powerful and moving video, which gives life of the experience of the Vietnam War.
    Woodstock : 3 Days of Peace & Music, Burbank, CA : Warner Home Video, 1994, c1969. This videotape is considered one of the best concert films ever made. The Woodstock Concert is considered the seminal cultural event of the 1960s The director's cut, a widescreen edition, has 30 minutes of previously unseen performances restored. Note: The video is rated "R".
