Scoring Guidelines:

No scoring necessary.

Instructional Procedures:

  1. Share with students an article that pertains to a right or responsibility.
  2. Review all the different rights and responsibilities that we have as citizens of the US.
  3. Projecting the computer screen so the class can see it, show students how to access the pathfinder on rights and responsibilities.  Share with them some of the different sites that they can search.
  4. Have students get a laptop from the cart and power it up.  Walk around to help any students that may need it.

Differentiated Instructional Support

Using the computer helps students who might have trouble in other areas be successful.  Also, students are working in groups of two and those that may have difficulty have been paired with students who are stronger in certain skills.

Extension

Students can move beyond the pathfinder and be directed to use other search engines to locate materials on the internet.

General Tips

Make sure in the future, that students are not so quick to print out the information that they find, but take the time to read it over online before printing.  It is hard for them to understand that not every piece of information that they see on the internet is relevant to their topic.
