Summer Seminars 2004 Credit Information

Workshop Credit (2 graduate hours)

Information and Requirements:

Summer participants received two graduate hours of credit (free of charge). Kent State University requires the completion of 37.5 hours of contact time/work for each graduate credit hour for a total of 75 hours. The 75 hour time commitment is outlined below with both on campus and off campus activities.

The two graduate credit hours were received by ILILE Summer Seminar teachers and library media specialists (one hour on August transcript and one hour on December transcript) with the successful completion of the following activities:

Attendance and Participation in the ILILE Summer Seminar
(25 hours):

*Social Studies---July 7-9, 2004 -or-
*Science---July 13-15, 2004 -or-
*Language Arts---July 28-30, 2004

Ongoing Activities :

*Seminar participants read a book of their choice from Linworth Publishing (selected during the workshop). (5 hours)

*Seminar participants participated in the discussion board by offering postings and reading other participant postings. (10 hours).

Unit of Study (35 hours):

*Participants collectively created a unit of study comprised of 3-4 lesson plans that correspond with the Ohio Academic Content standards of their selected curriculum area.

*The lesson plans followed the ODE Lesson Plan Template at http://ims.ode.state.oh.us/ODE/IMS/Lessons

Submission of the Unit of Study included:

*Students submitted their lessons online. Instructions for online submission were provided during the workshop at Kent.

*These lesson plans were reviewed and then posted on the ILILE website at http://www.ilile.org

*Unit of Study was due: Monday, December 6, 2004

Successful workshop completion was noted with the submission of grades in August 2004 and December 2004.
