Project Goals
- To deliver information literacy training to graduate education students on remote campuses through the development of instruction modules.
Activities
- Surveyed faculty using SAILS (Standardized Assessment of Information Literacy Skills)
- Surveyed 85 students in the Professional Educator Licensure program for self-reported competence on 5 ACRL Information Literacy Standards.
- Produced three video modules using Camtasia. Modules were used in four class sections in Spring 2007 (n=59 students).
- Established video conference room in the library building that facilitates planning between librarian and classroom faculty on remote campuses
Assessment
- Improvement in students’ confidence and perception of competency in information literacy, although self reported competencies of students was better than actual competency.
- Established good rapport with faculty – optimistic about future collaboration.
- Modules used as an introduction and review of skills
- Modules will require future enhancement in order to make them more polished.
