Workship Credit (2 graduate hours)

Requirements:

Summer participants will receive two graduate hours of credit (free of charge) in May 2004. Kent State University requires the completion of 37.5 hours of contact time/work for each graduate credit hour for a total of 75 hours. The 75 hour time commitment is outlined below.

A total of two graduate credit hours will be received by ILILE Summer Seminar teachers and library media specialists with the successful completion of the following activities:

Attendance and Participation in the ILILE Summer Seminar (25 hours):

*August 6-8, 2003 at Kent State University.

Ongoing Activities :

*Seminar participants will continue with their collaboration efforts during the academic year.

*Seminar participants will read and synthesize The School Buddy System (ALA, 2003) (5 hours).

*Seminar participants will participate at least once a month in a discussion board to be made available in late September 2003. All Summer Seminar participants will be automatically added to this discussion board (10 hours).

Unit of Study and Summary Paper (35 hours):

*The participants will collectively create a unit of study comprised of 3-4 lesson plans that correspond with the Ohio Academic Content standards.

*Each participant will write a summary paper (3-4 pages) from their own perspective (teacher or librarian) that details their experiences with the creation and implementation of the unit of study.

Submission of the Unit of Study and Summary Paper
