July 2004
Alice Yucht has been an educator for almost 40 years, as a classroom teacher, school librarian, university instructor, student-teaching supervisor, educational consultant, and a Board of Education member. She retired from full-time work in June 2003, and now writes, consults, and teaches online grad courses.
Ms. Yucht has written two books for school librarians, and her articles appear in professional journals such as Library Talk, Book Report, and Teacher-Librarian. Her FLIP it!™ framework for problem-solving has been utilized in both educational and business settings, and has been adopted as a basic resource by many school districts. She is also a frequent presence on LM_NET and several other educational cyber-discussion groups.
Ms. Yucht designs her presentations to help her peers learn, laugh, and look at their goals and activities in a new light. Her work teaching graduate courses and workshops for the Rutgers University (NJ) Professional Development Program earned her the coveted Carlin Award in 1996, given to "that instructor who most successfully employs humor to enlighten and educate."
